Description
By Philip S. Long
The entire theme of this book is safety, yet it is an exciting narrative as well as an autobiography of a heavy duty driver who logged over a million miles in trucks and buses. There are some ghastly wrecks where human life was taken needlessly and Long gives us an eye witness picture of these and their causes. Some of them are not very nice to even read about but often it takes something of this nature to make us realize the peril. By no means is peril the only subject. The book is liberally sprinkled with adventure, humor and excitement for by no means is the life of the heavy duty, professional driver a dull one. There are scenes in the mountains and prairies of the northern states, the Yukon and Alaska. This writing will prove of great interest to anyone who drives a vehicle on the highway and although the story carries the reader’s interest at all times, no one can possibly read it without gaining much knowledge of safety rules which may some day save a life. A choice item.
