Description
Meet the burrowing owls – the only owls in the world to live underground!
A pair of small browns with long legs prepare a burrow in the magnificent wilderness of the Grasslands National Park – one of the few stretches of wild prairie left in North America.
In this rare and beautiful place, the owls will lay their eggs and raise their babies in the burrow until they are ready to live on their own and fly south for the winter. Burrowing owls became endangered as grasslands disappeared. Today, many dedicated people are working hard to restore grassland habitat and help these remarkable little birds recover.
